In 2005 Lexus Motors commissioned MindComet, a Florida based marketing firm, to create a podcast promoting their new IS series vehicle line and to create an affinity between Generation X and the Lexus brand through shared music experience. Ted Murphy, President/CEO & Founder of MindComet, outlines the goals of the podcast, the measures of success, and the lessons learned along the way.
He touches on hot topics such as commercial music licensing, corporate legal departments, audience participation, content distribution, and strategic planning. As a marketing expert, Murphy stresses the need to promote your content and to experiment with new ideas. In what could become a mantra for corporate podcasting, Murphy asks this question: "Would you listen to your own podcast?"
Murphy summarizes his presentation with a "corporate podcasting top 10" list which any company, who intends to enter the podcasting or video podcasting space, should consider before they start.
