Assuming that you have a decent sound card or audio interface, the Intermediate Podcastrig is affordable and will produce excellent sound. The mixer is made by Peavey, with inserts on the mic channels for processor integration. The KEL Audio HM-1 mic is affordable, priced at $100.

The dbx 266XL processor offers compression, gating, and downward-expansion. The Bias Peak LE 5 software package will help bring things together.

Keep in mind that your sound card or interface will affect the quality of the audio that you are sending to the computer. Edirol offers the handy UA -1EX USB interface that supports 24bit/96kHz D/A conversion.

With this podcastrig concept, you will be able to monitor, or hear the processed signal as it is being recorded. With the Bias Peak software suite, you have the capability to edit your recordings and add additional effects.
