PNME 2007: Educational Podcasts:
(Brad Paul): Well, it’s mainly his vocabulary. I listen often and he is able to ask a question and then follow-up. Actually, what he does is he always paraphrases what the person says instead of just asking another question. He says, “So you’re saying …” and then he says it in a different way.
David Van Nuys: He’s doing like in Psychology, we call active listening.
(Brad Paul): Yes and it’s really effective and then he asks another question or he either has an analogy compared it to and then he goes on and asks another question. And I just find that very interesting. He almost – I’ve never heard him repeat the same type of analogy. He’ll use bard of floating down the river as a barge and he’ll never use it again. He uses another one. I just find that fascinating.
David Van Nuys: Well, that’s great. When this is over, come up and tell me his name again and so that I get that information and I’ll check him up. That certainly is – check him out. That certainly is one of the challenges of interviewing is how to get yourself in there and in what way you get yourself in there without sort of stepping on the person’s toes such you’re interviewing your guest’s toes. Somebody else, who’s another favorite personality? Interview personality. Yes. Thanks.
