Mbox 2 Micro …
Speaking of Pro Tools … have a look at this interesting new device from Digidesign..
It is essentially the size of a USB thumb drive with an 1/8″ output and corresponding volume control for monitoring Pro Tools sessions. My guess is the lack of input support may limit widespread adaptation. However I think it’s an interesting concept, and it provides an affordable option if you are looking to secure a copy of the Pro Tools software. LE is included. From what I gather a new version of the software is on the horizon, and early adopters will be entitled to a free upgrade.
The Mbox 2 Micro is housed in a rugged anodized aluminum casing and supports up to 24 bit, 48khz digital audio [Mac or PC]. The street price is$279 US, and it will be available within the next few weeks.
In terms of Digidesign’s support for Leopard … you’ll need to be patient.

Again people will have to pay for the bundled software which they may already have from Mbox or digi 003… Why digi is bundling software to all their hardware? I may already have 003, so all I need for my laptop is some DigiDesign-compatible ExpressCard/34 which I could keep in my MacBook Pro to be able to edit recorded sessions while I’m on the go. Why additional software, why USB device which can easily be lost somewhere, or broken off by accident? I have free ExpressCard/34 slot, I could place some hardware key there in and forget about it.
