Hi Michael,

Good to hear from you.

In the article I forgot to mention the CPU spec. for the system. It's the Dual Core 2.66Ghz [x2]. I'm real happy with it. And I agree with you in terms of Motion. It's now a blast to work with.

My question is this: will additional RAM really make that much of a difference once you start reaching levels of 4 gigs ? I guess the answer is obvious. My point is I can't imagine the system running any better than it is in its current state. I guess it all depends on the specific workflow. Eventually I'll bump mine up.

My next issue to address is Photoshop. I'm still on ver. 7.xx. Not a UB. I was going to hold out for Pixelmator.

http://www.pixelmator.com/

I think I've changed my mind. Based on what I'm reading it will be delayed and I'm not surprised. I can't wait for the final release that is promised sometime in late summer. It's too long of a delay. I depend too much on Photoshop. The PS upgrade is only $199 ...

Also, the video card in the G5 has 256 megs of ram, not 128. I'll keep you posted if I decide to list it on eBay.

Paul,
Glad to see you upgraded. That is the same video card I'm using as well and because of Motion. I had a 256 Radeon on my PowerPC dual 2.5 (not dual core). That was decent, but still not quite enough for Motion to shine.

At 4 gigs of Ram and that card you have... it makes Motion a very usable and fun app.

I got the lowest end Intel based Mac Pro myself. The dual 2ghz, with the 512ram card and a ton of ram. 12 gigs. I pulled the apple ram and put in RAMJET.com ram. I've always used their stuff and never had a hitch.

Needless to say Motion flys on it. I also did it so that other apps that are RAM hungry can be well fed. Such as After Effects CS3 and Combustion 4.

I saw you comment on your current system. If you decide to eBay it let me know. I've got some older apps that are PowerPC only that I miss.
