They say the same or better than the FR-2, but I don't push them. The idea of having trim pots before the main level is unique in it's price range. The only real problems I had was it records quite low level files with a mic (Rode NTG-2). It will only record a stereo file with one side silent if you only used one mic. It has a bug in the mono /stereo headphone monitoring. You have to reset it to mono every time you restart the recorder but the menu still shows Mono. But generally I am happy with it.
