The whole idea of the configuration is to support conversation between the Skype callers, the Talkshoe callers, and the Host. It’s not just a simple connection diagram. The mix minus buses are created by using the Aux Buses on the mixer.

The Skype output form the main computer feeds a channel on the board. Aux Bus 1 on that channel routes Skype to the hybrid input [to Talkshoe participants].

In this case there is no need to change this. You can process your voice externally with your compressor before it hits the recording software. There are a few things to keep in mind. The firewire output on the Mackie is pre inset, pre-eq, and pre-fader. This means that the independent tracks sent out via firewire will not be affected by the integrated processor. However the "main-mix" firewire output is, and will be affected by the incorporated processor. Make sure that you keep this in mind when you set things up in Hijack Pro. In terms of processor integration, all that is needed is a standard insert cable that is designed to place a serial processor [like a compressor] "in-line" on a channel, with full intention of providing a fully processed signal. So, the single end of the insert cable gets connected to the insert jack on your mic channel on the mixer. The "tip" end gets connected to the input on your compressor, and the "ring" end gets connected to the output on your compressor. This will send your mic signal out through the processor and it will be returned to the mixer. You should be all set.
