Paul -

I'd like to see this diagram as I am looking into using a similar setup.

Sorry about this ... we are in the process of moving the site to a new server. Check the link in a few hours. I'm addressing it.

Thanks for the note.

Hi Bob,

As a matter of fact I thought of our correspondence when I wrote this article. I'm glad you are happy with your current configuration. And, I agree with you about the trims. They are somewhat difficult to work with. They can be problematic at times, especially when they are set close to maximum levels. This is not recommended anyway.

Besides this - the interface has been trouble free. The extensive front panel metering is a great feature, and alleviates additional costs in terms of purchasing some sort of secondary metering bridge.

Hope all is well -

Nice article, Paul.

For what it's worth to anyone else (Paul already knows this...), this is very similar to the setup we have here, and it works very well. We have an Aphex 204, the telos one, 2 SM7Bs, and a dbx1066 compressor. All together, it makes for an amazing setup.

I also really like the MOTU unit, and the CueMix interface is quite powerful. The only gripe I have about the MOTU is that the input trims on the front are a bit fussy sometimes, and that I have to have them cranked just about all the way up to get good levels out of the SM7Bs. Otherwise, the MOTU is pure joy.

Thanks, Paul, for continued tips and advice.

Paul excellent article and gets my mind really working towards moving away from a traditional mixer (I use an ONYX 1220 today) and to something like the MOTU.

I like the flexibility in routing inputs and outputs, but worry about using a unit like this as a stand alone when I don't want to use my Mac at all for recording.

Thanks for the continued excellence of podcastrigs
