The Podcast Academy

I will be offering personal insight on gear – including mics, mixers, signal processors and accessories at The Podcast Academy on Thursday, Nov. 10th, 2005, in Ontario Ca. Also, I am doing a session on Saturday morning at the Portable Media Expo. I’ll explain how my involvement in this community has evolved, display gear routing configurations and demonstrate various aspects of software post production.

Behringer F-Control Firewire Interface

The Behringer F-Control Firewire Interface looks like an interesting new product . It offers ultra low-latancy, 2 in/2 out [TRS], 24Bit/96kHz firewire audio. The interface includes the Behringer Edition of Ableton� Live Lite 4.

RAMI PJO 550 Pro Mixer

Rami, the French manufacturer of professional broadcast gear has teamed up with Digigram, a world leader in PC audio interfaces. They will be offering this very cool mixer specifically designed for broadcast applications. A stereo line signal, a balanced mic and auxillary balanced line signals can be mixed and routed to a computer via USB. The mixer also includes phantom power, equalizer, limiter, balanced stereo output and a balanced channel insert for voice processing. Price has yet to be announced.

Tascam HD-P2 Portable Recorder

The Tascam HD-P2 Portable records up to 192kHz/24 bit files to compact flash media. Broadcast Wave audio files can be transfered to your workstation via firewire. Recordings are locked to the built-in SMPTE timecode input. The recorder offers XLR mic inputs with on-board phantom power and a really cool slanted LCD display. The word is it will be very affordable [less than $700].
